Learn the Five Ingredients of the Scene in Fiction Writing!
Who Do I Work With?
I work with all levels of writers around the world, from the US to Australia, Korea, England, Germany and France, and from beginners to published novelists. I'm fascinated by early drafts. I love works-in-progress because they are fertile with unrealized potential.
This special two-hour session can be in person or on the phone, and our session can be recorded.

Who Are My Students?
The one common characteristic shared by everyone who calls me about my coaching, workshops, and retreats is they all know deep inside that fiction writing is something they must do. Even if writing fiction is as yet only a dream for them, they still know that if they don’t write, a vital part of them will slowly fade and eventually wither away. And it will. Why? Because for fiction writers it isn't the perfectly turned phrase that we ache to express. Rather it is the imagination itself that fiction writers hunger to explore.
It is in unleashing the imagination that we birth our characters and stories that we never dreamed lived inside us, and this is one of the greatest joys a fiction writer can have. The imagination is our life blood. It is our uniqueness and the ultimate expression of who we really are and always have been.
What Happens In This Two-Hour Lesson?
What Do You Need to Send Me Before We Have Our Two-Hour Lesson?
To prepare for the two-hour lesson, you send me up to fifty double-spaced pages of your writing. But don't panic if you don't have fifty pages to send me! As little as three or four pages is fine. Once I've read what you've sent, your writing becomes the departure point for the two-hour discussion.
After this two-hour session, you'll have very specific ideas of where to go next with your writing and you’ll know if I'm the right writing coach for you.
For this Special Offer the two-hour lesson and my reading of your work is only $250. Normally it is $300.

About Emily
I'm a novelist with a passion for teaching others how unleash their stories and put them down on the seemingly unfriendly page. I know how to do this: I've been a fiction writing coach for thirty years.
I have seven works of fiction published including, Petersburg, sold to GP Putnams for $250,000. The paperback was sold to Dell for another $200,000. Petersburg was translated into Italian, German and Spanish and reached the Best Seller's list in England. I've written many articles on writing and the creative process, and been published in Writer's Digest.
I graduated from Barnard College with a BA in Writing and English Literature. I was a founding member of the National Writer's Union and co-creator of the hugely popular Westchester County Annual Writing Conference in the 1990s. I taught writing for ten years at the International Women's Writing Guild (IWWG) Conference at Skidmore College.
2017 is the 20th anniversary of my annual week-long Writing and Creativity Retreat for Women on the magnificent shores of Bar Harbor, Maine, home of Acadia National Park.
