I have been holding fiction writing workshops for over thirty years, and have helped hundreds of people develop as writers. Some who had never written before, have gone on to complete novels!
Workshops are limited to five participants. We do not write our stories in class; rather you write at home, and read in class. During each workshop, we have a lively conversation that includes my input as well as that of others in the class; your characters, plot, voice and much more are explored weekly. In this way, other workshop members are fed by your growth just as you are fed by theirs. Workshops in Westchester County, NY and as a TeleWorkshop run in ten week sessions: $500 for ten weeks. |

"In the three years I attended Emily’s workshop, I wrote about 80 or 90 short stories and actually finished the first draft of a novel. I didn’t even want to do it. I just wanted to be satisfied as a short story writer. But then one day I wrote a short story and everyone in the group wanted to know the rest of the story. I asked, What rest of the story? That’s it. But they insisted. What about this and what about that? Alright, I admitted, I’ll write a second chapter. As good as they first, they said. I wrote a third. Not bad, they suggested. I wrote a fourth, and I was hooked. Nine months later I had forty chapters. I know parts of the book are great. I actually made grown people cry." ~ Tom Brennan
