A hummingbird alighted in my heart and scared me nearly to death. I can’t stand fast-swishing wings, probably even on angels, but a hummingbird! And in my heart! Why was it there? Did my fear coax it? What possibly could bring that flighty bird to me?

A hummingbird alighted in my heart. Quickly she darted away, then returned, again and again, her flightpath creating an invisible set of evanescent arcs. Flower petals bloomed around me, my heart at its center. With each return she asked me a question. Is there nourishment here to fill me? Is there stillness to rest in? Is there wonder to bathe in? If so, I shall come again. I shall drink. I shall lay down my worries. I shall dream. And, in return I shall bring your heart beauty and wisdom for the seeking.

When I read this I felt my heart beating as fast as the Hummingbird's wings. Is that possible? Your words and images made it so.
